Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura Introduces Kimono Rental Stay Package

Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura has launched an exclusive accommodation plan in collaboration with Kimono Rental VASARA, designed for guests seeking a culturally immersive way to explore the historic seaside city. The package streamlines the traditional clothing experience by removing logistical hurdles such as strict return times and concerns regarding garment care, allowing for a more relaxed engagement with Kamakura’s ancient atmosphere.

Extended Flexibility for Evening Exploration

A primary feature of this plan is the extended rental period. While standard rental services typically require garments to be returned by the same evening, this package permits guests to wear their kimono or yukata (light summer kimono) until the following morning at no additional cost. This flexibility facilitates evening walks through the Komachi-dori shopping street and dinner at local restaurants in traditional dress. The return process is handled directly at the hotel; guests simply leave the attire with hotel staff during checkout the next morning.

Professional Styling and Diverse Selection

The package includes professional dressing and hair styling at the Kimono Rental VASARA Kamakura Komachi-dori store, located a short distance from the hotel. As one of the largest rental brands in Japan, VASARA offers a selection of over 1,000 outfits, ranging from retro-modern designs to classic patterns. To ensure peace of mind while navigating the city’s street-food stalls or in the event of rain, the plan incorporates an “Anshin Hoshō” safety guarantee pack, covering potential cleaning costs for minor stains or damage.

A Modern Base in the Historic District

Located a two-minute walk from JR Kamakura Station, Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura serves as a central base for sightseeing. The property, which opened in 2020, features guest rooms designed with separate washing areas in the bathrooms for added comfort. Select rooms offer direct views of the Ni-no-Torii gate leading to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, placing guests at the threshold of the city’s most significant landmarks. The kimono plan is available exclusively through the hotel’s official website for stays through the end of 2026.
