Seasonal Shaved Ice at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu

The Capitol Hotel Tokyu in Nagatacho is preparing for the 2026 summer season with a collection of kakigori (shaved ice) that emphasizes seasonal domestic produce. From July 1 to August 31, the hotel’s dining venues will serve these traditional desserts, ranging from a new strawberry milk creation to a melon frappe served in a fruit shell.

Sophisticated Shaved Ice at Lounge ORIGAMI

Lounge ORIGAMI, located on the hotel’s third floor, introduces a diverse lineup for the season. A new addition is the Strawberry Milk Kakigori, priced at 4,427 yen. It combines strawberry confit and puree with fresh and dried fruit, topped with a vanilla espuma and served with condensed milk and additional strawberry sauce.

For a more substantial presentation, the Melon Frappe (5,692 yen) uses half a domestic Earl’s melon as its bowl. It is filled with pure ice, homemade vanilla ice cream, and spheres of fresh melon, finished with a house melon syrup. Traditional Japanese flavors remain part of the menu, including Uji Kintoki and Ogura Shiratama (2,530 yen each). The former features premium matcha and azuki beans, while the latter includes shiratama dango and condensed milk.

Exquisite Persimmon Snow Ice at Star Hill

On the second floor, the Chinese restaurant Star Hill brings back its Persimmon Shaved Ice. This dish utilizes Saijo persimmons from Shimane Prefecture, a variety prized for its sweetness and smooth texture. The fruit is frozen whole and combined with snow-like ice and a mature persimmon syrup. This specialty is available exclusively on weekdays for 2,024 yen, or as a 4,048 yen set accompanied by sesame dumplings and Chinese tea.
