Summer Glamping at Hoshinoya Fuji: A Retreat Above Lake Kawaguchi

A Refreshing Summer Retreat at 900 Meters Altitude

Situated within the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, Hoshinoya Fuji offers a sanctuary from the summer heat through its “Summer Forest Glamping Stay,” scheduled from July 1 to September 10, 2026. The resort is positioned on a hillside between 840 and 940 meters above sea level, where the average minimum temperature in August often falls below 21°C. Guests are invited to experience the natural breezes and dense greenery of the forest while overlooking the waters of Lake Kawaguchi.

Morning Rituals and Seasonal Harvests

From August 6 to September 10, the resort hosts “Summer Mist Forest Deep Breathing,” a guided morning activity held in the mist-covered woods to capitalize on the early day’s cool air. This focus on the environment extends to the culinary offerings, particularly the “Fragrant Peach Glamorous Breakfast” served on private guest room terraces from July 1 to August 31. Yamanashi Prefecture is renowned for its fruit production, and this meal highlights three varieties of seasonal peaches paired with wine vinegar, allowing guests to sample local flavors against a backdrop of the lake.

Sensory Forest Activities and Evening Relaxation

The program includes several complimentary activities designed to connect guests with the surrounding woodland. The “Fragrant Forest Distillation” workshop uses glass apparatus to create essential oils and scents from local hinoki (Japanese cypress) and mint. For those seeking active exploration, a “Summer Forest Discover Walk” is led by a glamping master, providing insight into the local ecosystem.

As temperatures drop further in the evening, the “Evening Cool Beer Deck” at the Cloud Terrace serves original beer cocktails. These drinks incorporate Yamanashi grapes and white wine vinegar, offering a tart and refreshing finish to the day. The terrace, a series of tiered wooden platforms, provides a communal space to unwind in the cooling forest air before nightfall.
