In celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Alps Wing, Mampei Hotel is introducing a special commemorative parfait starting July 1, 2026. This limited-edition dessert pays homage to the enduring legacy of the Karuizawa establishment, blending flavors that have been part of the hotel’s history for decades with visual motifs inspired by its natural surroundings. Served in a retro-style glass, the parfait is designed to offer guests a sensory journey through the property’s storied past.

Artisan Flavors Inspired by Karuizawa Nature
The parfait is constructed with a meticulous attention to detail, reflecting the hotel’s landscape and architecture. It is topped with delicate chocolate lily-of-the-valley flowers resting on a matcha sponge cake, a combination meant to evoke the mossy courtyard of the Mampei Hotel. Beneath this, layers of fruit jelly are arranged to resemble the building’s stained glass, followed by a raspberry mousse prepared using a recipe cherished at the hotel since the early Showa era (1926–1989). The base consists of a fragrant royal milk tea chocolate crunch, providing a textured finish to the ensemble.

Historic Design and Retro Presentation
The presentation extends beyond the dessert itself to the dishware. The parfait is served on plates featuring a “Retro Lily of the Valley” pattern, a reproduction of a design used at the hotel from the Taisho era (1912–1926) through the 1930s. This same motif is also featured in the hotel’s current collaboration with the brand Feiler. Every element of the service, from the vintage glassware to the classic surroundings of the Cafe Terrace, is intended to immerse guests in the elegant atmosphere that has defined the hotel for generations.
