BEB5 Karuizawa to Open Seasonal Night Bar in Courtyard

From September 15 to November 30, 2026, BEB5 Karuizawa by Hoshino Resort will host the BEB Night BAR in its central courtyard. The hotel, which operates under the concept of being “more than an izakaya (a casual Japanese tavern) but less than a formal trip,” aims to provide a relaxed bar atmosphere without the constraints of traditional dress codes. Set against a backdrop of autumn leaves and centered around a symbolic bonfire, the venue allows guests to enjoy the seasonal air in a communal outdoor space.

Regional Spirits and Non-Alcoholic Pairings

The beverage menu focuses on regional craftsmanship, featuring three varieties of craft gin from the Nozawa Onsen Distillery, produced using local spring water. To accommodate those seeking non-alcoholic alternatives, the bar also serves three types of NEMA 0.00%, recognized as the first non-alcoholic gin produced in Japan. These spirits are prepared in three distinct styles: the “Hot Gin Apple,” served with melting cotton candy; the “Ruby Gin Splash,” a fruity preparation with grenadine syrup; and the “Caramel Gin Fizz,” a sweet option intended to be enjoyed as a dessert.

Local Flavors and Interactive Dining

Food offerings are centered on local specialties, including additive-free sausages from Chozume-ya, a well-known Karuizawa shop. Guests are provided with tabletop stoves to grill the sausages to their own preference, encouraging interaction around the fire. The menu is rounded out with nuts from Karuizawa’s Kinari and a selection of colorful pickles. The bar is situated within the TAMARIBA public space, where guests can choose to sit on wooden benches near the bonfire or at lantern-lit tables under the moon and illuminated trees.
