A New Gateway to Niseko’s Powder Snow
Accor has announced its first entry into the Niseko region with the upcoming Mercure Niseko Resort. Located in the East Hirafu area, the property is a rebranding of the existing Midtown Niseko. The resort is positioned to capitalize on the region’s global reputation for exceptional powder snow, offering a base for international and domestic travelers to engage with Hokkaido’s seasonal landscape.

Design Inspired by Mount Yotei and Hokkaido Culture
The resort’s interior concept draws from the natural environment of Mount Yotei and broader Hokkaido culture. The design palette incorporates warm natural materials and colors evocative of the region’s volcanic terrain. Facilities will include a restaurant and bar alongside a fitness center, adhering to the Mercure brand’s “Discover Local” philosophy, which seeks to integrate regional characteristics into the guest experience.
Strategic Location and Phased Development
The transition from Midtown Niseko to Mercure Niseko Resort will occur in phases starting in the winter of 2026. Initial operations will focus on guest rooms in the West Wing and primary communal facilities, with further expansions planned to complete the resort’s full-scale offering. Situated approximately five minutes by car from the Hirafu Welcome Center and ten minutes from Kutchan Station, the property provides high accessibility to the area’s transport hubs and ski infrastructure.
