Situated along the Tama River in the mountainous reaches of western Tokyo, Tokyo Okutama Onsen Okutamaji is set to reopen on July 18, 2026. The renewal transforms the property into an all-inclusive destination, emphasizing the natural landscape of Okutama through redesigned guest rooms and enhanced bathing facilities.

A Rejuvenated Hot Spring Experience by the Tama River
The renovation introduces a new open-air bath to the communal bathing area, positioned to overlook the Tama River. Guests can access the Tsuru-no-yu hot spring waters, a historic source in the region. The design allows for an immersion in the seasonal shifts of the landscape, from the greenery of the day to the quiet of the night, accompanied by the sound of the river below.

Enhanced Accommodations with Private Saunas and Open-Air Baths
The property offers 25 rooms, each redesigned with a washoku-modern (modern Japanese) aesthetic. The most significant additions are the suite rooms, which come equipped with private open-air baths and saunas, providing a self-contained wellness experience. The room inventory also includes superior Japanese-Western rooms and standard Japanese-style rooms tailored for families. Large windows are a consistent feature across all categories, intended to invite natural light and provide expansive views of the forest and mountains.

All-Inclusive Dining and Refreshed Lounge Spaces
Under its new all-inclusive model, the inn provides meals and beverages within the stay price. The culinary program focuses on washoku (traditional Japanese cuisine) crafted from local Okutama ingredients and seasonal produce. This service extends to the renovated lounge and lobby, where guests can find a selection of drinks throughout their stay. The communal spaces have been rebuilt using local stone and wood, creating a textured, warm atmosphere that mirrors the outdoor environment.
