Shisui, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Nara Marks Third Anniversary with Bespoke Sake and Gastronomy

Shisui, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Nara, situated within the historic Yoshikien district of Nara Park, has announced a series of offerings to mark its third anniversary. The program, which runs from August 18 through September 30, 2026, centers on the concept of “co-creation,” featuring collaborations with local artisans and historic breweries to reflect the cultural landscape of Japan’s ancient capital.

Commemorative Collaborative Sake and Wagashi

The hotel has partnered with the historic Kuramoto Sake Brewery to develop “Shijun,” an original sake crafted specifically for this milestone. The production involved an assemblage process where different brews were blended to achieve a profile that complements Nara’s high culture. The bottle features label calligraphy by artist Saika Nakagawa. Alongside the sake, the hotel introduces “Shiyui,” an original wagashi (Japanese confection) inspired by the form of a blooming flower bud, designed to symbolize the connection between the region’s history and its future.

Anniversary Gastronomy at Restaurant Suiyou and Shousou

During the anniversary period, Restaurant Suiyou is serving special commemorative lunch and dinner courses. The lunch menu, “Shion,” and the dinner menu, “Tokika,” are structured to express Nara’s cultural heritage through seasonal ingredients. At Sushi & Bar Shousou, guests can experience the “Koki” course, which integrates the anniversary products by featuring “Shijun” sake at the start and concluding the meal with the “Shiyui” wagashi.
