A Refined Evening of Japanese Summer Flavors
Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka has announced a summer edition of its “Night 和 sweets” afternoon tea, a weekday-exclusive service held during dinner hours at the Japanese Restaurant Uemachi. The menu is overseen by Chef Masaharu Kayagasako, whose culinary background includes service at the G7 Ise-Shima Summit. The experience is designed as a cooling retreat from the seasonal heat, utilizing a blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and contemporary techniques to engage the senses in a quiet, sophisticated setting.

Artistic Sweets and Savory Seasonal Delicacies
The tea service is presented on a custom-designed stand that draws inspiration from the hotel’s distinctive exterior architecture. The culinary selection features a variety of textures and temperatures, including watermelon-shaped jelly, peach and amazake (sweet fermented rice drink) jelly, and blueberry daifuku (stuffed rice cake). Traditional summer staples such as warabimochi (bracken starch dumplings) and mizuyokan (chilled red bean jelly) are also included.

The savory portion of the menu focuses on ingredients traditionally used to combat summer fatigue. Guests are served three-colored chilled somen (thin wheat noodles) and eel kosode sushi. The set begins with a welcome “Japanese Cassis Soda” and includes a selection of teas specifically chosen to pair with the seasonal flavors.

Exclusive Benefits for Guests in Traditional Attire
To encourage a deeper connection with seasonal traditions, the hotel provides a special incentive for guests who arrive wearing a kimono or yukata (casual summer kimono). These guests receive free-flow cocktails featuring “Alice’s Cassis,” a liqueur crafted with Japanese botanicals. The drink menu includes “Akazonae,” a crimson fruit liqueur infused with pomegranate and rose, and “Urushi-guro,” a deep-toned beverage made with the native Japanese herb kuromoji and tea leaves.
