Private Balcony Fireworks and Okinawan Traditions at Southern Beach Hotel & Resort Okinawa

Located in the coastal city of Itoman, Southern Beach Hotel & Resort Okinawa is set to host “Southern Festa in Summer 2026.” Beginning July 17, the resort will offer a program of events designed to provide an immersive Okinawan festival experience within the property grounds. The highlight of the season is a series of fireworks displays launched directly from the adjacent beach, allowing guests to view the spectacle without the typical crowds associated with summer festivals.

Private Fireworks and Ocean View Stays

The resort has scheduled ten fireworks sessions throughout July and August 2026. Each session, beginning at 20:00, features approximately 80 shots fired from the beachside. While the display is visible from the garden pool area, guests staying in ocean-view rooms can observe the performance from their private balconies. To facilitate this experience, the hotel offers an “Ocean View Guaranteed Plan,” ensuring a direct line of sight to the coastal pyrotechnics.

The fireworks are scheduled for July 21, 24, 28, and 31, and August 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, and 21. Access to the viewing areas is complimentary for overnight guests and those dining at the hotel’s restaurants.

Traditional Entertainment and Garden Stages

Nightly cultural performances take place at the first-floor garden poolside during the “Southern de Stage” event, running from July 24 to August 29. The program showcases Okinawan heritage through Eisa (traditional drum dancing) and Shimauta (island songs) live music, alongside Hula dance performances. Each session runs from 19:00 to 19:30, with the hotel distributing free glow sticks to the first 100 guests starting at 18:30 to enhance the poolside atmosphere.

Cultural Activities and Family Fun

For younger guests and those interested in hands-on experiences, the resort provides a variety of cultural and recreational activities. The Ninja Training Experience allows participants to practice shuriken throwing, archery, and kendama, with free ninja costume rentals provided. Additionally, the “Southern Ennichi” fair recreates the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese festival with stalls for target shooting, duck scooping, and ring toss, with activities starting from 500 JPY.

Guests can try their hand at Mizuhiki art (traditional decorative cord knotting) starting from 1,500 JPY, or Dimple Art using recycled eco-paints starting from 1,000 JPY. These sessions run from 15:00 to 21:00 at the first-floor entrance area.
