From November 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027, Hotel Nikko Alivila will host its seasonal winter event, “las luces.” Set against the resort’s Spanish Colonial-style architecture in Yomitan, the event transforms the patio and poolside with warm, candle-colored LED illuminations. This year’s display emphasizes environmental responsibility, utilizing green energy generated through solar power to create a gentle, atmospheric glow across the grounds.

Sustainable Illuminations and Warm Ambiance
The “las luces” illumination serves as the centerpiece of the winter season, running daily from sunset until midnight. The light display covers the Patio, Garden Poolside, and the resort entrance, casting a soft light that complements the property’s distinct masonry and arches. By opting for solar-powered energy, the hotel maintains its commitment to sustainability while providing a serene evening environment for guests.

Holiday Services and Christmas Deliveries
For those visiting during the Christmas holidays, the resort offers a dedicated Santa delivery service from December 23 to 25. Between 19:00 and 22:00, guests can arrange for Santa Claus to deliver pre-arranged gifts directly to their rooms at 30-minute intervals. This service, designed for families and those celebrating special occasions, requires advance booking through the official website starting October 1, 2026.

New Year Traditions and Ryukyu Arts
The transition to 2027 will be marked by a series of cultural performances and a midnight celebration. At the start of New Year’s Day, eco-friendly fireworks will be launched over the beach for approximately three minutes, visible to overnight guests from within the resort area. On January 1 and 2, the stage in front of the Garden Pool fountain will host 30-minute performances of Ryukyu dance (traditional Okinawan dance) and shishimai (traditional lion dance), offering a glimpse into the region’s rich artistic heritage.

Located on the coast of Yomitan, Hotel Nikko Alivila provides a quiet retreat where the turquoise waters of the East China Sea meet the festive traditions of the winter season. Whether through the sustainable glow of the patio or the vibrant movements of the lion dance, the “las luces” season offers a restrained yet celebratory look at winter in the subtropics.
