The Westin Osaka Lobby Lounge Reopens with Seasonal Melon Afternoon Tea

A Renewed Atrium Experience

The Westin Osaka has unveiled the renovation of its Lobby Lounge, officially reopening to the public on July 11, 2026. The redesign maintains the venue’s defining feature—a soaring three-story atrium encased in glass—while enhancing the interior with a more comfortable, high-quality finish. The space is designed to function as a peaceful urban retreat, where large windows frame views of a lush private garden, and the decor blends European classicism with the bold aesthetics of Japan’s Momoyama period.

A Three-Tier Journey of Seasonal Melon

To mark the reopening, the hotel is hosting a seasonal Melon Afternoon Tea from July 11 through August 31, 2026. The menu centers on the aromatic profiles of both red and green-fleshed melons. The first tier offers a direct comparison of the two varieties served in a melon rind bowl, accompanied by a rich melon shortcake and a playful cream soda-inspired jelly. The second tier introduces varied textures, featuring a signature white bear-shaped melon cake, a red melon mousse, and a parfait-style panna cotta designed to highlight the fruit’s natural sweetness.

Each element of the dessert selection is crafted to showcase different facets of the fruit, from the refreshing juice of the fresh slices to the concentrated aroma found in the mousses and cakes.

Chef-Crafted Savories and Exclusive Drinks

The third tier presents a selection of baked goods and savories supervised by Chef Kono of the hotel’s restaurant, Amadeus. A notable inclusion is the “Melon Pan Scone,” which replicates the crunchy, cookie-like texture of melon pan (a classic Japanese sweet bread). The savory items balance the fruit’s sweetness with salty and umami-rich ingredients, such as prosciutto paired with fresh melon, shrimp and avocado tarts, and pastrami sandwiches.

Guests can further customize their experience with the “Paradise Milky Mix,” a non-alcoholic cocktail developed by the hotel’s bartenders. This exclusive drink features a melon base accented with mango and orange. The plan also includes free-flow coffee and tea, alongside a single serving of premium tea.
