A Seasonal All-Inclusive Summer at Grand Mercure Awaji Island

Grand Mercure Awaji Island Resort & Spa, situated with views across the Naruto Strait, has announced its summer program centered on an all-inclusive experience. The seasonal offering focuses on the culinary landscape of Awaji Island, pairing regional seafood and beef with local craft ales. To accommodate the expanded dining program, the resort is scheduled to open a new restaurant space on August 1, 2026, designed to enhance the flow of the evening buffet service.

Seasonal Gastronomy and Local Craft Beer

The centerpiece of the summer dinner buffet is the inclusion of AWAJI BEER, a local craft label. From July 18 to August 31, 2026, guests can enjoy the brewery’s Pilsner, which has previously received gold-level recognition for its distinct hop aroma and crisp profile. This beverage selection is designed to complement the specialized summer menu available throughout August, featuring sea pike (hamo) tempura and Awaji beef steaks, both prepared at live cooking stations to ensure immediate service.

Regional Specialties and Summer Activities

Beyond the seasonal additions, the resort continues to serve established regional favorites. These include the Awaji Beef Onion Gra-foie Burger, which utilizes the island’s famous onions, and nama shirasu (raw whitebait), a local delicacy. Other seafood offerings include steamed sea bream and octopus rice, reflecting the proximity to the surrounding Inland Sea. For families, the resort provides a dedicated kids’ lounge and an outdoor pool, while the rooftop KOHAKU terrace offers a space for quiet observation of the strait.

The summer schedule also includes a “Sea Firefly Viewing” event on select dates in August (10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25). This 30-minute program allows guests to observe bioluminescent marine creatures, providing a rare glimpse into the island’s natural ecosystem. For those traveling with children, the new Family Superior rooms are equipped with projectors, intended for private movie screenings after the evening’s activities.
