A Dinosaur-Themed Culinary Adventure at Yokohama Grand InterContinental

From July 17 to September 6, 2026, the Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel will transform a portion of its Buffet Dining Ocean Terrace into a dedicated “Dinosaur Area.” This seasonal initiative coincides with city-wide festivities in the Minato Mirai district, integrating playful, prehistoric-themed dishes into the restaurant’s existing Hawaii and Oceania buffet offerings.

The themed experience is designed to complement the maritime atmosphere of the restaurant, which offers expansive views of Yokohama’s port. While the main buffet continues to feature seafood and grilled meats from Hawaii and Oceania, the dinosaur section adds a layer of creative engagement for families and visitors attending local summer events. The setting allows guests to dine against the backdrop of the sea before or after visiting the various fossil exhibits and moving dinosaur displays located throughout the neighborhood.

Creative Menu Highlights

The dinosaur-inspired lineup includes five specific dishes characterized by their shapes and presentation. Guests can find meat sauce pasta featuring Stegosaurus and Triceratops forms, alongside dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets. A Tyrannosaurus footprint *omurice* (omelet rice) is served with the hotel’s signature *hayashi* sauce, a savory brown beef stew. For a more substantial option, the “Fried Chicken Bone & Potato Mountain” provides a bold visual and culinary center-piece.

The dessert selection includes specialty dinosaur cookies in plain, matcha, and cocoa flavors, which are designed to be used as toppings for soft-serve ice cream. For those seeking themed beverages, special ice floats and cocktails are available for an additional fee.

A Seasonal Event in the Port City

This culinary offering aligns with major local attractions, including the “Yokohama Dinosaur Exhibition 2026” at the adjacent Pacifico Yokohama and the “Minato Mirai Dinosaur Rally” stamp event. The buffet provides a central location for those exploring the district’s summer program, combining the hotel’s professional kitchen standards with a lighthearted theme.
