From August 1 to September 30, 2026, The Tokyo Station Hotel will host the Melon Sweets Collection at its Lobby Lounge. This seasonal event centers on the versatile flavors of melon, presented through a structured afternoon tea, a three-part dessert assortment, and a specialized summer beverage. Set within the Marunouchi Building, a designated Important Cultural Property, the experience combines contemporary pastry techniques with the hotel’s century-old architectural heritage.

The Melon Afternoon Tea Experience
The Melon Afternoon Tea is the centerpiece of the collection, offering a balanced selection of five sweets and several savory dishes. The dessert menu includes a Mini Melon Parfait layered with lemon and mint gelee, and a signature Melon and White Chocolate Mousse. For the savory portion, the lounge serves a classic pairing of prosciutto and melon alongside an egg Danish sandwich and a house-made pâté de campagne. The set is accompanied by plain and Earl Grey scones, served with clotted cream and a bitter lemon jam crafted from domestic fruit.

Melon Assortment and Tea-Infused Squash
For those seeking a focused tasting, the Melon Assortment provides three distinct dessert preparations on a single plate. It includes a Melon Tart featuring Tahitian vanilla custard, a Melon Mousse paired with muscat gelee, and a refreshing glass dessert that combines melon sorbet with champagne gelee. To complement these dishes, the lounge has introduced the Melon Squash with Gyokuro Aroma. This beverage blends melon puree and lime juice with cold-brew Gyokuro stem tea, resulting in a drink that balances fruit sweetness with the crisp, vegetal notes of high-grade Japanese tea.

Dining in a Historic Landmark
The Lobby Lounge is situated on the first floor of the Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building. Designed by Richmond International, the space maintains a European classic aesthetic, characterized by soaring ceilings and three large-scale chandeliers from the Venetian glassmaker Barovier & Toso. Despite its proximity to the city’s busiest transit hub, the lounge serves as a quiet sanctuary where guests can observe seasonal washoku-inspired (Japanese cuisine) craftsmanship within a monumental setting that has stood since 1915.
