Kissho CAREN Introduces Coastal Dining and Wellness Plans in Higashi-Izu

Located in the Hokkawa Onsen district of Higashi-Izu, Kissho CAREN has announced a new series of day-trip packages. These plans, available from July 2026, combine the property’s natural thermal waters with specialized spa treatments and kaiseki (a traditional multi-course meal) prepared with a French sensibility. The offerings are designed for travelers seeking a restorative coastal experience within reach of Tokyo.

Coastal Dining at Four Seasons

The day-trip experience centers on two lunch courses served at the Four Seasons restaurant, which provides panoramic views of the coastline. The “Beauty” course (8,100 yen) emphasizes wellness, featuring organic vegetable jelly and a choice of Kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) or Black Wagyu beef. For a broader exploration of regional ingredients, the “Sagami Bay Journey” course (12,650 yen) includes local Ise spiny lobster, steamed Kinmedai, and premium meats such as Amagi venison and duck.

A selection of gourmet dishes including lobster, sashimi, and beef.
The French-inflected lunch courses feature local seafood and seasonal meats.

Natural Thermal Baths and Amenities

Access to the resort’s onsen (natural hot springs) is included in all plans. The baths are supplied by two private sources flowing at a rate of 300 liters per minute. To facilitate a “hands-free” visit for day guests, the facility provides all necessary towels and amenities, including Refa hair dryers. Between activities, guests have access to an ocean-view bath lounge and a dedicated library lounge for quiet reflection.

Thalassotherapy at Kissho Spa

At 300 square meters, Kissho Spa is one of the largest wellness facilities in the Higashi-Izu area. Its menu focuses on thalassotherapy, utilizing the therapeutic properties of seawater, seaweed, and mud, complemented by camellia oil from Izu Oshima. Specialized day plans include the 60-minute Queen’s Spa Camellia Course (21,850 yen), which targets the back, legs, and head, and the 70-minute Thalasso Course (23,500 yen), which offers a choice of body or facial treatments paired with an affusion shower or mineral-rich pack.
