Summer Hot Air Balloon Flights Launch at ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa

ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa has announced a limited-time hot air balloon experience, allowing guests and visitors to view the North Karuizawa highlands from a height of approximately 20 to 30 meters. Operating from July 20 to August 4, 2026, the morning sessions utilize tethered flights—where the balloon is secured to the ground by ropes—to provide a stable ascent roughly equivalent to the height of a building’s rooftop.

Morning Hot Air Balloon Tethered Flights

The experience, operated by Third Son, takes place at the Karuizawa Sky Park parking lot. Each flight lasts approximately 10 minutes, accommodating groups of three to four people. The activity is designed to be accessible for families, with the scale of the 20-meter-tall balloon providing a distinct contrast against the mountain backdrop in the early morning air.

Panoramic Views of Mount Asama

As the balloon rises, passengers are presented with panoramic views of Mount Asama and the surrounding natural landscape. The flights are scheduled between 5:30 AM and 8:00 AM, capturing the clarity of the highland morning. Due to the nature of the activity, flights are subject to cancellation in the event of unfavorable weather or wind conditions.

All-inclusive Resort Stay

Complementing the aerial activity, the resort offers an “All-inclusive Resort Stay” plan. This package includes guest rooms with views of Mount Asama and free-flowing food and drinks, including beer and wine during dinner.
