Shangri-La Tokyo Unveils Tropical Summer Festival Afternoon Tea

From July 1 to September 15, 2026, Shangri-La Tokyo will host the Tropical Summer Festival Afternoon Tea at The Lobby Lounge. Situated on the 28th floor of the Marunouchi Trust Tower Main Building, the experience offers panoramic views of the city alongside a menu inspired by the vibrant atmosphere of a Japanese matsuri (summer festival). The offering combines traditional festival imagery with seasonal tropical ingredients, such as mango and passion fruit, to provide a cooling culinary retreat in the center of Marunouchi.

Playful Sweets Inspired by Festival Stalls

The sweets selection features creative interpretations of iconic festival treats. A passion fruit “raw donut” is styled to resemble takoyaki (octopus balls), finished with chocolate caramel “sauce” and pistachio “seaweed.” Other highlights include a chocolate mint mousse shaped like a traditional water balloon, a choco-banana cake, and a mango almond tofu dessert where goldfish-shaped chocolates appear to swim in blue curacao jelly.

Savory Selections and Tropical Pairings

The savory menu continues the matsuri theme with inventive presentations. A chicken consommé and vichyssoise is served in a small glass to resemble a pint of beer, while a grilled corn quiche is seasoned with soy sauce powder. The selection also includes a pork and pineapple corn dog, bridging traditional festival snacks with tropical accents.

Seasonal Scones and Table-Side Service

The experience is accompanied by a variety of scones, including classic, tomato cheese, and roasted corn flavors. These are served with clotted cream and a selection of seasonal jams. Additionally, guests will be offered a seasonal white peach cookie cream puff via a “pass-around” table-side service. This limited-time offering is priced at 8,580 JPY per person, subject to a 15% service charge, and is available daily at the hotel’s Lobby Lounge adjacent to Tokyo Station.
