Hotel New Grand Unveils Peter Rabbit Dressy Apéro in Yokohama

Hotel New Grand has introduced the Peter Rabbit Dressy Apéro, a limited-time evening menu commemorating the 160th anniversary of author Beatrix Potter. Available on weekdays at the hotel’s historic Main Building, the offering adapts the European tradition of the apéro—a pre-dinner drink accompanied by light bites—into a culinary narrative inspired by the world of Peter Rabbit. Guests are invited to experience a sequence of dishes designed to evoke specific scenes and characters from Potter’s beloved illustrations.

A Literary Menu of Storybook Savories

The experience centers on a three-tiered stand of savory items, each referencing a specific tale. The selection includes “Radishes and Herb Butter” as a nod to The Tale of Peter Rabbit, and “Onion and Bacon Quiche with Lavender Scent,” which draws inspiration from The Tale of Benjamin Bunny. Other highlights include “Salmon Rillette Sandwiches” referencing The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher, alongside various pâtés, tarts, and seasonal fruits arranged to reflect the English countryside aesthetic of the books.

Classic Cocktails and Refreshments

Each guest may select two drinks from a curated list. Options include the “Summer Herb Garden,” a non-alcoholic cocktail featuring floral and herbal notes, as well as classic cocktails such as the Yokohama and the Bamboo. Champagne and wine are also available. For those preferring non-alcoholic pairings, the menu includes free-flow coffee and the hotel’s original blend teas, served in an environment recognized for its tea quality.

The event is hosted in the Lobby Lounge La Terrasse, located on the ground floor of the hotel’s Main Building, which opened in 1927. The lounge, certified by the Japan Tea Association as a “Store with Delicious Tea,” features a refined European atmosphere with wood-paneled pillars and deep blue upholstery. Overlooking the greenery of Yamashita Park, the setting provides a quiet, historic backdrop for international travelers and fans of the series to enjoy a traditional hotel experience in Yokohama.
