A Tribute to Date Clan Colors and Tohoku Harvests
Westin Hotel Sendai has announced the launch of ‘DATE High Tea -Summer Red-,’ a limited-time culinary program running from August 1 to August 16, 2026. Designed to welcome travelers visiting for the Sendai Tanabata Festival and the Obon season, the menu centers on the theme of ‘Red,’ a color historically associated with the Date Clan of the Sendai Domain. The experience is hosted at Lounge & Bar Horizon, located on the 26th floor, providing guests with expansive views of the city’s summer landscape.

Exquisite Savory and Sweet Summer Pairings
The service begins with a tiered stand featuring six varieties of hors d’oeuvres that highlight regional ingredients. Notable selections include Date chicken brochettes with a corn tartar sauce, lobster beignets served with a red gazpacho, and a seasonal pairing of hoya (sea squirt) with watermelon. These small plates are designed to reflect the vibrant summer season while honoring local culinary traditions.

The main course features roast beef prepared from Shinsei Kanpo Wagyu, accompanied by a potato puree infused with red paprika. For the final course, guests are served a peach and raspberry parfait, which incorporates white peach gelato sourced from Aomori Prefecture. This combination of savory and sweet elements emphasizes the diverse harvests found across the Tohoku region during the peak of summer.

Premium Free-Flow Drinks with Local Whisky
Central to the beverage program is ‘Nikka Date,’ a blended whisky sold exclusively within Miyagi Prefecture. Guests may choose to enjoy the whisky as a highball, neat, or on the rocks as part of a free-flow selection. The beverage menu also includes sparkling wine, red and white wines, beer, and original mocktails. This offering provides a refined setting for observing the transition from afternoon to evening over the Sendai hills.
