Fairmont Tokyo Marks First Anniversary with Dual Peach Afternoon Teas

To commemorate its first anniversary, Fairmont Tokyo has introduced two distinct afternoon tea experiences at Vue Mer, the lobby lounge situated on the 35th floor. Running from July 1 to September 13, 2026, the menus focus on the seasonal profile of juicy peaches, presented through the contrasting culinary lenses of French tradition and Japanese craftsmanship.

French Influences and Champagne Pairings

The French Afternoon Tea explores the pairing of seasonal fruit with champagne. The menu includes a Peach & Champagne Tart, which incorporates popping candy for a playful textural element, and a savory Foie Gras Peach Melba. Guests dining at Vue Mer can observe the transition from afternoon light to evening over the Tokyo skyline while enjoying these selections.

A Japanese Perspective on Seasonal Fruit

Supervised by the chefs of the hotel’s specialty restaurants, Sushi Migiwa and Teppanyaki Totsuji, the Japanese Afternoon Tea utilizes sake (rice wine) and its byproducts to enhance the fruit’s natural sweetness. The savory tier features inari (sweet tofu pouches filled with vinegared rice) containing semi-dry peach pickles, and white fish marinated in sake lees sourced from the hotel’s original “Migiwa” label. Other highlights include wagyu beef tataki (lightly seared) wrapped around caramelized peach.

Evening High Tea and Seasonal Confections

For those visiting later in the day, the hotel offers the “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere” High Tea. This more substantial offering serves as a light dinner, featuring herb-grilled pork and salmon paired with wine. A standalone Peach Parfait, layered with champagne jelly and peach sorbet, is also available until late evening in the lounge.

The seasonal theme extends to a collection of takeout cakes available at the lounge. Options include the Peach Melba Tart, a dark chocolate and peach variant, and “The Peach,” a confection shaped to resemble the fruit itself. These allows guests to experience the hotel’s anniversary flavors beyond the dining room.
